If you are in a life threatening situation or cannot keep yourself safe go to your local A&E and if you cannot get there safely call 999; mental health crises are emergencies too.

 

If your needs are less urgent please make an appointment with your G.P. or out of hours clinic.

  • Childline - A free and confidential service that children can access online and on the phone. They can provide help and support for people up to their 19th birthday.

  • Give us a shout - 24/7 free text crisis service for support and immediate help. Text SHOUT to 85258. Only available in mainland UK.

  • Kooth  - online mental health community. Free, safe and anonymous messaging/live chat service and therapy for individuals 10-25 years supported by trained professionals. There is a possibility of some access to brief therapeutic interventions informed by a psychological assessment.  Also discussion boards, forums, advice and resources are available.

  • Young Minds - website full of help advice, support, training and resources. 0808 802 5544 (parent helpline).

  • Blueice App -  BlueIce is a prescribed evidence-based app to help young people manage their emotions and to reduce urges to self-harm. It includes a mood diary, toolbox of evidence based techniques to reduce distress and automatic routing to emergency numbers if urges to harm continue. BlueIce was developed clinicians and young people with a lived experience of self-harm.

  • https://www.stayalive.app/ The Stay Alive app is a pocket suicide prevention resource for the UK, packed full of useful information to help you stay safe. You can use it if you are having thoughts of suicide or if you are concerned about someone else who may be considering suicide.

  • https://calmharm.co.uk/ Calm Harm is a free app that helps you manage or resist the urge to self-harm.
